When installing pearl tile, make sure all your products, substrate, tile, thinset and grout are compatible with each other. Inspect all materials before use and getting started. Dry lay or do a mockup to confirm your layout, grout joint size and that the final look meets your expectations.

A: This material originates in China.A: I don’t know but it’s a gorgeous tile and makes for a dramatic entrance. -
Q: Could this tile be used on a shower wall?
A: This tile has the following suitable installation areas; Backsplash, Kitchen Wall, Wall Tile, Bathroom Wall, Shower WallA: Yes, can be used on walls. However these tiles are very thin and I had used them for a mosaic border . Not my first chooce of a wall tile. My customer chose themA: As long as it will not be submerged in water. These tiles are also very small and work best installed on a flat surface. The space between tiles is 1/8” so you will need to use non-sanded grout. Make sure not to get quick drying grout.A: Most definitely, it is beautiful. -
Q: What grout is recommended for this tile?
A: We suggest the Laticrete Permacolor Bright White GroutA: I used white unsanded grout to make sure it didn't scratch the surface. I have it as a backsplash in my kitchen and has held up great for the last 3 years.A: I ordered the grout at the same time as the tile from the same company and what they recommended. It was white, but I don't remember the specifics as it was some years back now. -
Q: What do you use to clean this tile if using behind stove?
A: Mother of Pearl and Pearl Shell tiles must be regularly cleaned and maintained to extend the life and beauty of the tile. The tiles can be cleaned with a neutral mild detergent. Keep surfaces clean from abrasive dirt and do not use abrasive cleaners, powders, scouring pads, steel wool or sandpaper. Do not let soap, bleach or other cleaning solutions set on the surface. Seashells consist primarily of Calcium Carbonate. They will react to acid including vinegar, acidic foods and carbonated beverages. -
Q: Can this be used for a fireplace surround?
A: Hi Lee. this is Kelly We used this tile on 2 fireplaces in our b and b’s and it’s terrific. They are both gas fireplaces.A: Yes. It is beautiful and should be fine around a fireplace. -
Q: Is this tile outdoor rated? I would like to use it in a small accent part around a fireplace that will have a structure that protects it from rain but will get normal moisture from the air outside.
A: This material is not suitable for outdoor installation.A: I'm pretty sure they recommended it for indoors, and just for walls, not floors, since it's fragile.A: Unfortunately no..the contractor who installed it recommended that it should not be installed around heat and outside areas. Q: If you want to install a strip of this tile, how do you edge it? I have a 12 inch x 16 foot strip above my master vanity I want to install it in, but I don't know how to "top" it off with a clean straight line?

Alternatively, you can line the tile with a clean caulk line that matches the color of the grout.A: I would use a tile trim piece to finish off the edges. That could be a glass pencil tile or a ceramic pencil tile or other larger trim piece. You would want to order several trims sample options to see which one you like the best with the oyster white mosaic.A: The tile is only 1/8” thick so there are a few options. You can build out the substrate (where he tile attaches) with cement backer board and then edge the top with a traditional tile quarteround. You can also butt it under pencil moulding; or you can use a metal or vinyl trim made by Schluter. -

Stunning and unique
I used this tile for the backsplash in my kitchen and laundry room. I get SO many compliments on the tile. It is unique and eye-catching while also being subtle. There are slight glimmers of pearlescence, but nothing overwhelming. Due to the varied color pattern this tile would complement a wide selection of other tiles or surfaces. I found a similar tile first, then sourced this at Tile Bar and Tile Bar was way less expensive and did a fabulous delivery. Not a single piece was broken.
