Color and style. Subway tile is timeless but this has a contemporary style that is subtle and beautiful. It's perfect for a backsplash in our mid-century kitchen.

I love the subtle blue tone in the tile and crackles given it character. The uneven color will have a dramatic look on the shower walls once complete.

I have some gorgeous dinnerware from Williams Sonoma that is made in France, and I wanted a backsplash that had that glazed crackle look.
Dawn H on Nov 28, 2017
I love the variation in color with the blues and grays. My kitchen cabinets are white, island cabinets are a very light gray, and my quartz countertops are a very light cream color with white and grey veins throughout. We have large picture windows throughout our kitchen and attached living room with great views of the ocean and sky. This tile ties everything together perfectly.
Jodi N on Oct 27, 2017
Kitchen backsplash with white cabinets and a cool taupe countertop. Ordered the sample and loved the hint of color (light and subtle) and slight crackle to add texture.
Robyn H on Oct 20, 2017

Client has an all white kitchen but wants to use light blue accents throughout the home. This is just the touch of blue we need in the kitchen.
Amber T on Jul 31, 2017
Love the color we used it for an entire pantry
Katy H on Mar 7, 2017
Much better quality crackle tile than we've seen anywhere else. Also very happy it's sealed and the crackle is not "live". I love the "watercolor" finish. We have blue island and grey cabinets with natural woods and stones so the colors and finish fit really perfectly.
Fiona P on Mar 6, 2017
I loved it was ceramic and it is neutral enough to go with any color. I think it is more classic and will not look dated in years to come.

Classy! Looks great with Blue, brown, tan, and grey. Very thick! Great quality. I actually ordered a sample first and then ordered 30 sq ft the next day for my basement counter back splash. It does have many cracks throughout the tile front but this is how the tile is designed to look. If looks similar to a cracked hard boiled egg. It really is beautiful. The surface is smooth and glossy.I would recommend!

Is there a finish on top of the crackle? Does the tile need to be sealed?
A shopper on Mar 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The tile has a polished finish. This tile does not have to be sealed.
Do you have any pictures of these beautiful tiles in a room, so I can see what a wall or backsplash would look like? Also, would you have to use grout on these?
Linda H on Mar 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used white grout on our kitchen backsplash. I can't link a photo in my response here, maybe I can elsewhere. My kitchen isn't entirely finished, but you could get the idea.
What color grout would recommend?
Nick W on Apr 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I highly recommend using white grout. We put this tile in our kitchen. The white grout really made the tile shine and brought out the color of the tile. I was amazed at the difference it made after I added the white grout. Good luck!
This tile appears grey in one tile sample and more pale blue in another. Is there variation? Thanks!
Trish R on Aug 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don't think there's too much variation, just subjective opinions. on my wall, it looks exactly like this pic shown ( bathroom). I used it in my kitchen with dark gray cabinets and fantasy brown granite. I think it looks very pale blue, but often people says it looks gray. However, everyone loves it and I am so glad I bought it.
Is this glass or ceramic? The title says ceramic but installation instructions reference glass tile.
A shopper on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This product is ceramic that is made with a crackled glass look.
Did you use the matching pencil edge and corners for these tile - if so, does anyone have pics to share? If not, what edge did you use?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I did not order the corners but did order the chair rail edge for the backsplash behind the stove. My tile guy is just going to cut the pencil edge at a forty five degree angle to make the rectangle. I do not have pictures as it’s not installed yet. But I saw something similar on their Instagram, I believe.
Can this tile be used in a shower?
A shopper on Jun 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can. Just be sure that your installer reads the manufacturers recommendations for install in a wet area.
What size grout spacer did you use for your kitchen project with this tile?
Caroline N on Aug 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Our tile guy didn't use spacers at all. Then grouted after. Grout lines
are very thin and looks great. Said that is what is usually done with that type
of tile. We use a non-sanded white grout. Looks great!
Do you have bullnose tile to go with this Nabi Arctic Blue 3X6?
Nancy D on Aug 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We don't happen to make a bullnose for this collection at this time, but we do have a few other trim options.

Alternatively, there are a couple other techniques for edging the tile. Two common options are edging the tile with a metal Schluter strip or by lining the tile with a clean caulk line that matches the color of the grout.

What do I use for edges that are exposed. Do you have anything specific to buy that goes with the Nabi arctic blue 3x6 subway tile?
Whitney V on Jun 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The Nabi Arctic Blue does have a corresponding chair rail and pencil liner. Additionally, there are a couple other techniques for edging the tile. Two common options are edging the tile with a Schluter strip (which you can grab at your local Home Depot or Lowe's) or lining the tile with a clean caulk line that matches the color of the grout.

Where are these tiles manufactured?
A shopper on Dec 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The tiles are manufactured in China.
Installation

SUBSTRATE

Tile must be installed over a suitable substrate to insure a proper installation. Tile should be installed over a clean, sound, and flat surface, free of contaminates including curing compounds. Substrate should be free of cracks. If used in a wet area you must waterproof. See manufacturer's recommendation on a membrane for crack and water protection that is compatible with the setting material you are using. Expansion joints should be installed at all changes in plane in the tile work and where tile abuts restraining surfaces, therefore silicone caulking sealant must be installed in all corner joints in place of grout.

INSTALLATION

  • Please note that there is variation in shades of color due to the glazing effect. We always recommend dry-fitting your pattern first to think about your cuts in advance and to make sure you like the pattern. This will also help you choose which pieces go where, which is especially helpful with tiles that have a lot of variation.
  • To avoid affecting the color of the tile, white thinset such as Bostik PM is highly recommended for all installations. For faster installation, use a rapid curing thinset such as Bostik Single-Flex Fast Set.
  • Apply as much adhesive as can be covered within 10-15 minutes.
  • Grout joint should be a minimum of 1/16”; and not butt set.
  • The optimal trowel size is a 9" Trowel - 1/8" square notch.

GROUTING

  • This tile is made by hand and is high fired. This causes a considerable amount of variation in size and thickness.  With handmade tile we always recommend larger grout joints to account for these irregularities.
  • Grout joints should be packed full and free of voids and pits.
  • Clean excess grout as the work progresses before it has hardened completely.
  • Acids should never be used for cleaning grout haze.
  • Use a damp sponge for the final cleaning and to smooth out the grout joints.
  • Both Sanded and Non-Sanded grouts are acceptable for use. We recommend Sanded grout for joints larger than 1/8 inch and Non-Sanded for 1/8 inch or smaller.
  • It is recommended to use grout release, then grout the tile, then use a sealant to the tile such as MP90

CUTTING

The recommended cutting method is to use a wet saw with a diamond blade. Edges can be sanded smooth after cutting.

CLEANING

Highly recommended to purchase the Unpolished Porcelain Maintenance Kit. Ceramic tile is resistant to germs and bacteria and it is also among the easiest of flooring materials to clean. You can clean your ceramic tile with a damp sponge mop. A solution of 1/4 cup of white vinegar to 2 gallons of water works best – allow time for drying. You can also sweep or vacuum. Although ceramic tile is by definition impervious, it is still possible for its surface to discolor. The following instructions explain how to clean ceramic tile surfaces.

For cleaning unpolished surfaces, follow these instructions:

  • Sweep or vacuum dust and debris from the floor. When sweeping, use a soft-bristle broom and sweep in 2 directions. First follow the direction of the tile, and then sweep diagonally. This will ensure the removal of all foreign material that might be residing in the texture.
  • Saturate the tile with a neutral cleaning solution, such as vinegar, with hot water and stir. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the floor 5 – 10 minutes. Scrub the floor with a brush; again using a two-direction method.
  • Rinse the floor with clean, clear water to remove the cleaning solution.
  • For high traffic locations, it is recommended to clean the floor at least once per day and wet mop at regular intervals.

  • Always Remember:

    • Do not clean tile flooring with ammonia or with cleaners that contain bleach and/or acid. Acid and ammonia based cleaners may modify grout color.
    • Do not use wax, oil-based, abrasive cleaners, or sealants.
    • Agents that contain any dyes or colors are not recommended.
    • Use rugs at entrances to prevent dirt and grit from being tracked onto the tile flooring from outdoors.
    • Do not use steel wool pads, because loose steel particles may create rust stains in the grout.
