Beautiful! Planning on using as an inlay !

My wife & I love the look of this tile, beautiful.
Thank you
MARTIN P on Jul 15, 2018
I chose this because the pattern size was not too small and not too large to tile around our new gas insert fire place with wood mantle and box frame. We have a burned bronze fireplace frame which will be accented by the earth tones in the shell detail.

Are there special installation instructions for this set that I can provide to my contractor? Cuts, mortar mix, grout color, etc?
A shopper on Feb 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mine is used under the hood as well. Start from the center and work out b/c you will likely have to cut the 12" sheet somewhere. I used Thassos pencil trim around this mosaic and white grout. Grout lines are not visible.
Is this durable enough for a bathroom floor?
A shopper on Feb 9, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes this tile is suitable for flooring use.
How big are the samples?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Big enough to make an informed decision on whether you want to use them in you're project!
My project came out amazing!
Are these 12x12 sheets and how many come in a box? Is there special installation methods?
Bianca L on Nov 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These are 12x14 , they are so beautiful!
Is the marble a true white?
A shopper on Aug 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is a true white. I have only ordered the sample and am now waiting for it to come back in stock to purchase. It was very helpful to order the sample so I knew the true colors. The sample is fairly small but you'll get the idea. I recommend it!
Can this tile be used for a shower floor?
Rick B on Nov 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Rick B, we would not recommend it to be used as a shower floor for a couple reasons. 1) This finish is extremely polished and smooth. It could get very slippery when wet. 2) We worry that the way that the mother of pearl chips are thin and adhered to the base with epoxy, it would allow water to pass into and through the tile thickness. This could lead to dirt and mildew build up within the tile that could not be removed. Now, as a listello banding about the wet areas, we would highly recommend this tile. It is beautiful and we are in love with it. Keep the questions coming and good luck! Andy B
I'm going to be using this for a shower wall and feature wall. My client liked the idea of having it on the shower floor. Can you suggest something different OR can it be honed?
Amanda C on Jan 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello,
You are going to love this product. I just used it for a shower wall in a secondary bathroom, and the client was so thrilled with it that she wished we had used it in more of the seven bathrooms in her home! We thought about putting it on the floor as well, but she was a little concerned about it being slippery. So we compromised and used a honed thassos mosaic from WZ called Jet Set that mirrored the shape. The Highlands Marakesh with shell is stunning. Your client will be delighted. Good luck.
Can this be used on the bathroom floor?
A shopper on Jul 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This tile can be used on residential floors that will have a light amount of foot traffic as the mother of pearl can be damaged and scratched by large amounts of heavy foot traffic.
Can this tile be used for around the fireplace?
Kellie C on May 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I am not an expert. However I think it would depend on how chose the glass tiles are and what kind of fuel. Ask the Tile Bar People. Call their number. They are so helpful, knowledgeable and would buy tile from anywhere else.
What is the repeat pattern on this tile? I want to use it for a 6" backsplash in the bath. Just wonder if the cut can be at 6 and get a full pattern
Patricia A on Jun 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I think it depends on the orientation of the cut. Tile being 12x14, half that would be either 7" or 6". So yes, you could get 2 strips 6"x14" from one tile.
How tall is each design element and how wide? I am trying to figure out how many of the patterns will show in my area. Also, does it glisten and reflect much light?

Installation

SUBSTRATE

Before you start tiling, make sure that whatever surface the tiles are being installed to will be strong and structurally sound. Cement board, concrete or drywall is best, as these surfaces can handle the moisture of the tiling process. Plywood should be avoided, since the wood will warp with the added moisture and it will also be less waterproof, even after tiling.

MATERIAL INSPECTION

Natural stones are products of nature; therefore, variations in color, pattern, texture, and veining will occur. Verify all products before installation for any damage or defects such as chipped edges, broken pieces. No adjustment will be made after installation.

INSTALLATION

  • We always recommend dry-fitting your pattern first to think about your cuts in advance and to make sure you like the pattern. This will also help you choose which pieces go where, which is especially helpful with tiles that have a lot of variation.
  • To avoid affecting the color of the tile, white thinset such as Bostik PM is highly is recommended for all installations. For faster installation, use a rapid curing thinset such as Bostik Single-Flex Fast Set.
  • Apply as much adhesive as can be covered within 10-15 minutes.
  • Grout joint should be a minimum of 1/16” and not butt set.
  • 3/16" or 1/4" square notch trowel should be used when installing our marble material and ridges should be smoothed down with the flat side of the trowel prior to fixing the tiles in the mortar bed.

GROUTING

  • To prevent scratching, Non-Sanded grout is ideal for all natural stone. In the event that your grout joints are larger than 1/8”, you should mix Sanded and Non-Sanded grouts for added density. Prior to grouting, test an area to make sure the stone surface will not scratch.
  • Grout joints should be packed full and free of voids and pits.
  • Clean excess grout as the work progresses before it has hardened completely.
  • Acids should never be used for cleaning grout haze.
  • Use a damp sponge for the final cleaning and to smooth out the grout joints.
  • We highly recommend applying grout release prior to grouting the tile to facilitate cleaning and for protection against staining from contrasting color grouts.

SEAL

After the stone is installed, and grouted, seal the stone with an appropriate high quality breathable stone sealer, to minimize water absorption, efflorescence, and potential staining. We recommend our polished sealer for polished stone. If necessary, a color enhancer may be applied to bring out the true color of the stone at any time after grouting. Follow sealer manufacturer's installation instructions. Reseal tile when the stone gets darker or as needed.

CUTTING

Use a wet-saw with a new, continuous rim diamond blade specifically designed for cutting marble. Do not use “turbo” or other notched blades designed for use with porcelain or ceramic as the teeth can cause a coarse cut, resulting in a heavily chipped edge.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

For normal care and maintenance of stone tiles, clean stone surfaces with a few drops of neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Use a clean soft cloth for best results. Too much cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks. Do not use products that contain lemon, vinegar, or other acids on marble or limestone. Rinse the surface thoroughly after washing with the soap solution and dry with a soft cloth. Do not use any abrasive cleaners.
