What is a PEI rating?

The PEI rating is the resistance of wear and tear on a tile from 1 to 5 (1 being the least durable and 5 being the most durable). This rating is based on a test performed showing how long a tile can withstand damage before it shows signs of any wear patterns.

PEI 1: Tiles with a PEI rating are best suited for wall applications.

PEI 2: Can be installed on the floor in very low-traffic areas.

PEI 3 / 4: Durable against moderate foot traffic in areas such as residential floors.

PEI 4 / 5: Can be used in high-traffic areas such as a commercial floor setting and is quite durable in a residential setting.
