Brazilian Tiger Blue 8X48 Matte Porcelain Tile

The magical land of New Zealand treasures the most exotic wood in the world, because it is obtained from trees that have fallen due to cataclysms and have remained underground for thousands of years. The Brazilian Tiger Blue is inspired by the unique style of this wood and it reflects its natural elegance in modern living environments. Also available in a polished finish.

I love how the blue makes the tile look like it's weathered wood.

We are using a polished version of this tile, however, we have a unique area that is more of a "runway" for our gentle giant breed that we are sort of making a carpet in the middle of the runway zone to slow them down/prevent sliding.

I was looking for a mosaic tile for my kitchen backsplash. I know I looked at thousands of tiles. It was exhausting! I had already picked one out from a different company and then found I couldn't afford it. Then I came to your sight and found this tile and fell in love. I didn't want to look at the same thing all the time. eg, circles little squares etc. Thank you for sending the samples so fast. I know I will be needing more in the future and it will be your tile. Thanks again. Marilyn

I was tired of boring neutrals - this is my house, I'm not decorating for others. Yet I wanted to coordinate (not match) outdoor decking and interior hardwood.
Valerie C on Nov 24, 2017
It was a nice tile for a beach house we are working on. Its very unique.
Bobby L on Oct 23, 2017
This tile is gorgeous, but the color is more muted than it appears on-line. So far the ordering process has been easy with no hidden charges.

I was originally looking for an "ashy-wood-look" tile but this one was more appealing than the other multi-color toned wood-look tiles and I also like this one more for a bathroom.

Can this be used on a outdoor covered balcony?
A shopper on Mar 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The photos with the tile show it outside. I do not see why not
Can this tile be used exterior?
A shopper on Feb 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This tile can be used outdoors.
can it stand up to dogs cats etc...?
Linda S on Oct 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sure, as well as any tile can. I wouldn't use it for a kennel floor, but it's not slippery and would look better than say, hardwood, after dogs scampered on it.
Can this be used for a fireplace surround and chase?
Deanna B on Sep 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely!! It'd be quite the unique look too.
Looking to install it in my Garage Bathroom. This bathroom will be used a lot because we just installed a pool. Is it slippery when its wet or does it grip well? Thanks
Derek N on Jan 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: We have a pool as well and ours is installed in the bathroom most people use. It definitely is not a slippery floor when it is wet. We love the floor, the colors and variations are beautiful. We installed it with the minimal grout, very easy to clean.
Would you use this as a backsplash?
Liz D on Sep 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This is a beautiful tile and certainly could be used as a backsplash but I think that it is more of a floor tile. If paired with the right cabinets and countertops, it could be stunning. The blue is not so brilliant and is more of a blue gray. I would suggest getting a sample first before deciding.
Is the tile textured?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is not as smooth as glass, but has enough texture to to keep from slipping when you walk. It appears in pictures to have more texture than appears, but less than completely smooth.
If I were to use this tile on the shower walls and tub surround, what color floor would you recommend? I'm not crazy about using the same tile throughout the entire bath. Thanks
Crissy on May 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We used this tile in a walk-in shower and ran the tile up the nearly 11' walls. Stunning! The rest of this smaller, second bath's walls have yet to be painted, but will soon be a crisp white, with all white fixtures and vanity. Wanting a stone-look floor, we had the concrete pad/floor ground and polished. The tile on the shower floor itself, is sliced stone in a light to mid value range, keeping with the stone look of the rest of the floor. It adds interest without taking away from the Tiger Blue in the shower. Everyone working on the house has just gone crazy over the Blue Tiger Blue tile. I'd recommend using a white/off white to light tan solid color tile for your floors -- colors that can be found in the Tigerwood tile and contrast nicely with that beautiful blue.
Can you use this for bathroom shower walls?
Kacey F on Jan 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I see no reason why you couldn't. Its like any other ceramic tile so it would need maintenance and cleaning like any other tile would. It would be beautiful on a wall because it is gorgeous tile. I fine that it is not as blue as the pictures show. Its a bit more brown but this not not detract from its beauty.
Can this tile be used as accent wall in den. Then put tv in center with floating shelves on sides?
A shopper on Apr 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you mean to mount the TV and shelves on the tile itself, I wouldn't. Leave spaces for your mounting hardware instead. These planks are very large and heavy. While they can be used on walls, it is a very difficult install and requires special mortar and other considerations. Don't attempt to tile more than two rows a day for any large format tile. The tile is thick, so you'll need to either lay it wall to wall or consider some sort of molding around it.
Would you do anything differently with the installation of this tile? If so, what?
Nicole D on Aug 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We installed this with a very minimal gap and used random layout instead of straight staggerd in our porch. It came out GREAT. Looks almost like real wood floor instead of tile.
What color grout did you use in these pictures?
A shopper on Feb 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The pictures shown above were not grouted, however for this tile I would recommend either our Heron Blue non-sanded grout or our Silver Bullet non-sanded grout.
Heron Blue Non-Sanded Grout
Heron Blue Non-Sanded Grout
Silver Bullet Non-Sanded Grout
Silver Bullet Non-Sanded Grout
What would be a complementary backsplash in the kitchen to this flooring (cabinets being a light grey)?
A shopper on Jul 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Something like this might work:
Nabi Arabesque Arctic Blue Marble & Ceramic Tile
Nabi Arabesque Arctic Blue Marble & Ceramic Tile
Nabi Arctic Blue 3x6 Ceramic Tile
Nabi Arctic Blue 3x6 Ceramic Tile
Nabi Sprig Arctic Blue Marble & Ceramic Tile
Nabi Sprig Arctic Blue Marble & Ceramic Tile
Nabi Valor Arctic Blue Ceramic Tile

This looks like it has a wood it cold to the touch like regular tile? It really doesn't look like tile at all. Thanks
A shopper on Feb 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is a wood-look porcelain tile.
Can this be used outside by a pool? The pictures show it used that way, but in the specifications it only says it's for indoor use.
Jennifer Z on Aug 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I cannot say professionally if it can be, but I don't think water would make it too slippery with water. Not sure, we put it in our kitchen. It's beautiful!
Who makes this tile?
C M on Jun 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This tile is manufactured for TileBar.

Tile must be installed over a suitable substrate to insure a proper installation. Tile should be installed over a clean, sound, and flat surface, free of contaminates including curing compounds. Substrate should be free of cracks. If used in a wet area you must waterproof. See manufacturer's recommendation on a membrane for crack and water protection that is compatible with the setting material you are using. Expansion joints should be installed at all changes in plane in the tile work and where tile abuts restraining surfaces, therefore silicone caulking sealant must be installed in all corner joints in place of grout.

  • We always recommend dry-fitting your pattern first to think about your cuts in advance and to make sure you like the pattern. This will also help you choose which pieces go where, which is especially helpful with tiles that have a lot of variation.
  • To avoid affecting the color of the tile, white thinset such as Bostik PM is highly recommended for all installations. For faster installation, use a rapid curing thinset such as Bostik Single-Flex Fast Set.
  • Apply as much adhesive as can be covered within 10-15 minutes.
  • Grout joint should be a minimum of 1/16”; and not butt set.
  • The optimal trowel size is a 9" Trowel - 1/8" square notch.
  • The maximum offset percentage for this tile is 25%.

  • Grout joints should be packed full and free of voids and pits.
  • Clean excess grout as the work progresses before it has hardened completely.
  • Acids should never be used for cleaning grout haze.
  • Use a damp sponge for the final cleaning and to smooth out the grout joints.
  • Both Sanded and Non-Sanded grouts are acceptable for use. We recommend Sanded grout for joints larger than 1/8 inch and Non-Sanded for 1/8 inch or smaller.
  • It is recommended to use grout release, then grout the tile, then use a sealant to the tile such as MP90

The recommended cutting method is to use a wet saw with a diamond blade. Edges can be sanded smooth after cutting.

Highly recommended to purchase the Unpolished Porcelain Maintenance Kit. Porcelain tile is resistant to germs and bacteria and it is also among the easiest of flooring materials to clean. You can clean your porcelain tile with a damp sponge mop. A solution of 1/4 cup of white vinegar to 2 gallons of water works best – allow time for drying. You can also sweep or vacuum. Although porcelain tile is by definition impervious, it is still possible for its surface to discolor. The following instructions explain how to clean porcelain tile surfaces.

For cleaning unpolished surfaces, follow these instructions:

  • Sweep or vacuum dust and debris from the floor. When sweeping, use a soft-bristle broom and sweep in 2 directions. First follow the direction of the tile, and then sweep diagonally. This will ensure the removal of all foreign material that might be residing in the texture.
  • Saturate the tile with a neutral cleaning solution, such as vinegar, with hot water and stir. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the floor 5 – 10 minutes. Scrub the floor with a brush; again using a two-direction method.
  • Rinse the floor with clean, clear water to remove the cleaning solution.
  • For high traffic locations, it is recommended to clean the floor at least once per day and wet mop at regular intervals.

  • Always Remember:

    • Do not clean porcelain tile flooring with ammonia or with cleaners that contain bleach and/or acid. Acid and ammonia based cleaners may modify grout color.
    • Do not use wax, oil-based, abrasive cleaners, or sealants.
    • Agents that contain any dyes or colors are not recommended.
    • Use rugs at entrances to prevent dirt and grit from being tracked onto the tile flooring from outdoors.
    • Do not use steel wool pads, because loose steel particles may create rust stains in the grout.
