Shaken or Stirred?

Tequila is made by steaming the hearts of the blue agave plant, one of approximately 136 species of agave grown in Mexico. Once steamed, the hearts are minced to a pulp, combined with water, and fermented, producing an alcoholic liquid that's then distilled and bottled.

BEST ANSWER: Oil rubbed bronze blends very nicely,
Can you install copper as a backsplash behind oven ranges? I am concerned since copper conducts heat.
A shopper on Feb 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I installed behind a cooktop which is similar with no problems. Keep in mind that most of the tile is ceramic and the copper is only a thin layer.
Has anyone had any problems cleaning these? I purchased a sample Has anyone had any trouble cleaning these? I ordered a sample, it had a stain that I cannot get off of it. I'm concerned because we want to use it as a back splash in the kitchen
Jennifer on Sep 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I also ordered a pkg of samples and I'm am still thinking about using them as my backsplash as well, I have a 16' in length backsplash, I was going to inquire if they can be sealed, but it does look like they will stain unless they are ment to be polished with copper or metal cleaners, I have not decided to use them yet I hope this will help. My concern is we clean with vinegar and I don't think it will be a good idea on these. I am not 100% sure therefore we need to try it on the samples before deciding.
Copper tarnishes, does this tile overtime tarnish?
Tony R on Mar 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It isn't copper. It is stainless steel with a copper color finish. It won't tarnish.
How can you cut the copper stainless 2 by 6 stainless tile? What is needed to cut and install it?
A shopper on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can cut it with a tile saw but it will leave a ragged edge. When we needed smaller pieces, we removed the backing, cut the metal larger than needed (so we could fold it over) and then replaced the backing after cutting that. The metal is glued to and wrapped around a piece of backing.
Are these made with magnetic stainless steel?
A shopper on Aug 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are brushed steel, copper colored tiles with a porcelain backing.
I am considering these for a kitchen backsplash. The installation page states that these tiles should not be butt set, but that is what I was thinking of doing (butting them up against each other and not using grout). Why is that not recommended? Thanks.
A shopper on May 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't see why you couldn't. I installed this but I used an 1/8" spacing with grout. I will tell you that these are basically stainless steel tile front with a ceramic piece on the back that adheres to tile cement. the ceramic backing is about 1/8"-1/4" smaller all the way around than the steel front. Hope this helps. They do look great when finished.
can these be used in the shower?
A shopper on Nov 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would not recommend using metal tiles in a shower. Water and moisture can cause erosion, discoloration, and loss of finish.
Do the tiles dent? Stain? Are they finished so they will not "patina"? with age?
A shopper on Sep 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are treated and don't tarnish. You can buy a sample for a buck or two.
Do you ship to Quebec Canada?
A shopper on Jan 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi there, we do not ship directly to Canada. However, our Canadian customers usually have us ship to a shipping center in the U.S. who then ships it to Canada.
Do these come in a bullnose ?
A shopper on Nov 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, Used subway pattern which means trimming to fit inside corners and a vertical trim piece above end of counter.

Tile must be installed over a suitable substrate to insure a proper installation. Tile should be installed over a clean, sound, and flat surface, free of contaminates including curing compounds. Substrate should be free of cracks. If used in a wet area you must waterproof. See manufacturer’s recommendation on a membrane for crack and water protection that is compatible with the setting material you are using. Expansion joints should be installed at all “changes in plane” in the tile work and where tile abuts restraining surfaces, therefore silicone caulking sealant must be installed in all corner joints in place of grout.

The recommended cutting method is to use a wet saw with a diamond blade that is specifically for cutting metal. Edges can be sanded smooth after cutting.

  • To avoid affecting the color of the tile, White modified thin-set such as Bostik Glass Mate is highly is recommended for all installations.
  • Apply as much adhesive as can be covered within 10-15 minutes.
  • Grout joint should be a minimum of 1/16” and not butt set.
  • The trowel size you can use is a 9" Trowel - 1/16" square notch.

  • You would need to waterdown the thin set a bit more and use the excess thinset as a grout line.
  • It is highly recommended that you purchase the Glass & Metal Maintenance Kit

After the tile is installed, seal the tile with an appropriate solvent based sealer, to preserve the finish, minimize oxidization, and prevent the formation of rust. Follow sealer manufacturer’s installation instructions. Reseal the tile as needed.

Stainless Steel

Onlly use a stainless steel cleaner. Apply the cleaner with a shammy or microfiber cloth. Do not use towels or rags due to their ability to scratch stainless steel.

Other Metal tiles

Metal tiles can be easily cleaned with warm water and dishwashing soap. Use a shammy or microfiber cloth to clean the tile, then rinse off the remaining soap.
