General Notes

  • All installations should refer to the most current TCNA manual. Tile Council of North America 864.464.8453 Home - The Tile Council of North America (tcnatile.com)
  • All TileBar installation instructions are suggestions. Specific installation questions should be brought to a local tile professional.
  • Follow directions on all materials, especially mixing quantities.
  • Inspect all materials before using to make sure there are no defects. Installation is acceptance, material claims will not be entertained after install.
  • Blending different boxes of tile is recommended before and during installation.
  • Ensure proper Safety – PPE (ex: Gloves, Glasses)
  • Q: What kind of trim to use?

A: I would suggest looking into our Seafoam Glass Pencil Liner; https://www.tilebar.com/seafoam-polished-glass-pencil-liners.html

Additionally, I would suggest our Essential Metal Edge Strip; https://www.tilebar.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=essential

Alternatively, you can line the tile with a clean caulk line that matches the color of the grout.

    Sara K.

A: A contrasting color. Black would be nice.

    Michael M.

  • Q: Do these come on a backing or do you have to install tile one by one?

    A: Install 1 by 1

    Ian T.

A: They do not have a mesh backing.

    Shirley S.

A: You have to install them one by one.

    Donna C.

A: Each 3 x 6 tile is an individual piece, as are all subway- style tiles.

    Rebecca N.

A: You install the tiles one by one.

    Stephanie E.

A: No backing. One by one

    Susan R.

A: You have to install each tile individually.

    Amy B.

A: We had to install each tile individually. They are subway tiles and are not on a backing.

    Gabrielle W.

A: Installation is one by one

    Ligia C.

A: These need to be installed one by one. They come packed in a box with dividers between.

    Dyan C.

A: These tiles are installed one by one. There is no mesh backing.

    Angelica W.

A: These tiles do not come on a mesh backing. They are sold as individual pieces and must be installed piece by piece.

    Ralph B.

  • Q: What grout was used in the picture above? It matches the tile so perfectly and that is the look I am going for. Thanks!

A: hello - we used AccuColor Dove Grey (908). The white was too bright. Good luck!

    Brian M.

A: We used white grout with small seams. Looks great.

    Susan R.

A: Hi, I think they used white behind the tiles, but the tiles are flush against each other woth no grout in between. When we installed it, they left a little space between the tiles and used white grout, and it looks good, too!

    Pamela S M.

A: The contractor that did my tile said the picture shown on the site doesn’t have grout, I used a white grout and it made the tile really pop in my backsplash.

    J E.

    A: Alli,
In that image it looks like there is no grout. You could see if your tile installed could install it that way. Otherwise we have used white or a light gray and it looks great!

    Katy H.

    A: White

    Tom R.

A: I used a platinum colored grout, and it was the closest I could find to blending nicely. Green grouts looked odd when I sampled them. Good luck!

    B E.

A: I'm afraid there is no grout in that photo, because it is not of an installation. We recommend using a non-sanded grout with a minimum of 1/16th" grout lines. Dimension Diamond grout is a clear grout that takes on the colors and elements of whatever material it's installed with. For an almost groutless look, this might work for you.

    Ralph B.

A: It is a groutless tile. You not seeing anything but tile. That is the way it is designed.

    Michael M.

A: I couldn’t tell you,I used white. Your tile supply house will have many choices

    brian H.

A: We actually didn’t use grout, it was a groutless backsplash.
There is a whole layer of tile behind it. I hope that helps!

    Amy B.

A: It isn't my picture, so I don't know. I used white for my project.

    Donna C.

A: We could not find a grout stain to match the tile, so we ended up using white grout with the smallest grout spacers we could find. Turned out beautifully!

    Angelica W.

A: That is a photo taken without grout... however, my husband and I used white unsanded grout and it came out beautifully!

    Becky H.

  • Q: What grout color did you use?

A: I used SGM brand. the color is Sea Foam. It looks great. It is the same color tone but slightly ligther so you can see the individual tile definition

    Sue B.

A: I used white to keep the color of the tile true. Used in a modern coastal setting.

    Sharon B.

A: We used white, very small gaps. It's the backsplash in our kitchen and just "glows" in the daytime. Our counter is engineered quartz with flecks of greens and tans in a white background so it goes together beautifully.

    Susan R.

A: We used a clear epoxy grout. We love these tiles.

    William F.

A: I used white grout since I put a horizontal row surrounded by white bigger tile.

    Donna C.

A: We went with white and are very happy with it!

    Seth C.

A: Our contractor just used a clerish with a white tint... it looks gorgeous :)

    Lauren M.

    A: White.

    Pamela S M.

A: we put the tile very close together and used a light sand grout.

    Betsy K.

A: My Tile installer used a white grout. You actually cant really see it. But you are drawn to the beauty in the shiny glass. Very thin, and looks stunning! Was going to show pic but nowhere to download. So happy with it!

    Diane S.

A: We used a light gray grout--I can't remember the name.

    Maureen B.

A: thin white very defined grout lines

    Ian T.

A: white grout with 1/16" grout joint

    brian H.

    A: white

    Alyna S.

A: We decided to use white grout. At first I was worried about using white because I wanted it to blend with the tile for a cohesive look, but we couldn't find anything to match. We used white and went with the smallest spacing possible, and it turned out beautifully. alternatively, there are gels/stains you can mix with white to try and come up with a similar color as the tiles. Good luck!

    Angelica W.

A: I used a standard white grout and the color of the tile really popped! It looks great!

    Paul L.

A: We used white, unsanded grout for ours, turned out beautifully .

    Becky H.

A: We used white grout. We used the green tiles as a decorative element is our mostly-white subway tile bathroom.

    Elizabeth R.

A: We used the white non sanded grout sold through Tile Bar. SKU is GROUTBSWHITENONSANDED. Looks good! Love this color tile in our kitchen.

    Cathy W.

A: We used a grout that was the closest to the color of the tile we could find. Looks exactly the same color when done and disappears which is what we want. Love the tile, get many compliments.

    Shirley S.

A: We actually didn't use any grout and it turned out great!

    Amy B.

A: We went with white and it turned out great! Love this in our kitchen.

    Briana R.

    A: white - looks awesome!

    Frank H.

A: We used what they recommend

    Robert C.

A: I used TileBar's Myst G97332 (unsanded) - and am very happy with how it looks.

    Laura W.

A: White and we love it! Our cabinets are white so it was a nice combo

    veronica R.

A: A very light grey -- looks lovely

    Julie D.

A: I used this tile as an accent tile. The grout I used was grey to match the field tile on the walls.

    David C.

  • Q: How do I clean my new glass tile shower after the installer left?

A: Highly recommended to purchase the Glass Installation/Maintenance Kit, which contains all you need to maintain and care for your tiles.. For normal care and maintenance of glass tile, wiping the surface with a damp sponge or clothe with water or a light vinegar solution is sufficient. If stronger cleaning is needed, a nonabrasive, neutral pH cleaner can be used.

    Sara K.

A: I Uses mine for backslash in the kitchen and I've only used a towel with water to clean, but honestly they really haven't needed it.

    Amy M.

A: If you mean the film that is left after grouting, your installer should have cleaned that off. I watched my contractor and he used Goof-off to remove any traces of grout or caulk. I use glass cleaner on it now, and occasionally a nylon scrubbie for food that may get stuck (my tile is a kitchen backsplash). Hope this helps.

    Dyan C.

A: I use a glass cleaner on my tiles but vinegar and baking soda would also be a good choice, as answered above.

    Laura T.

A: I only have a decorative border (which I love) so I clean it like the regular tiles.
Mostly I use vinegar and baking soda I rarely use tile cleaners and if I do, only near the tub where it's dirtier.

    Vicki C.

A: I use Windex Antibacterial Multisurface cleaner. It seems to work well.

    Kaylee M.

A: Ours is a backsplash in the kitchen and use regular kitchen / glass cleaner for the last 2 years.

    Andrew A.

  • Q: Are the edges beveled like real subway tiles or are they square?

A: They said do have a slight bevel

    Shelly T.

A: The tiles do not have beveled edges. But they are beautiful. We used them on our kitchen backsplash and I couldn't be happier with them.

    Barbara R.

A: They're squared off and quite lovely!

    Timothy T.

A: They are not beveled but have depth, and can look prismatic in certain light.

    E V.

A: The edges are essentially squared off with a slight eased edge, not beveled, but not a hard edge either.

    Tom Z.

    A: They are square

    Sue B.

    A: The edges are square.

    David C.

  • Q: What edging options are available for the glass tile? Do they come with a factory bull-nose on all four sides?

A: These are finished with perpendicular, smoothed edges. But NOT bull-nosed. For someone who knows how to cut glass tile, they are relatively easy to work with, and cut edges can be smoothed. We are using 3x6 and cut pieces of same in our pool.

    Greg H.

A: This tile is polished on all sides, so you do not need any bullnose. However, you could use a Schluter edge in chrome, white, stainless, etc. if you so desire. Those are sold at Home Depot/Lowes. This tile is fabulous - we just had it installed in our Master Bathroom and used a standard white grout color. It has a wow factor for sure! Hope this helps!

    Cynthia G.

  • Q: Where is the tile origin ? Is it made in USA ?

A: This tile is produced in China.

    Sam D.

  • Q: how thick is the tile ?

A: This material is 8 mm thick.

  • ★★★★★ BEAUTIFUL!

This tile is so beautiful! My kitchen is gorgeous! My tile installer was leery of working with the 'clear grout' but ended up LOVING working with it and was so happy with the final product. The turquoise tile is such a happy color!

  • ★★★☆☆ Not as white as anticipated

I installed this in a stacked pattern as my backsplash. The color is disappointing though. The back of the tile is painted a bright white but when installed it does not look bright white. You have to consider that it's glass and most glass products inherently have a green tint that, unfortunately, overrides the white backing. Based on the photos, I was anticipating tile that reads as white but it's more of a light green. Still it's a very clean, modern look.

  • ★★★★★ Very Pleased With Master Bath Project

Worked out beautifully in master bath remodel. Installed on backsplash, custom niche in shower, a band of three tiles on three walls of showe and outside border as you step into shower.
