it has the green tones of the sea here in Hawaii and I'm separating each tile for a border for ocean mosaic I made.

I have always loved stained and beveled glass. We plan to cut the tile into strips and use two rows as our accent tile along with carrera marble in our shower. We also plan to use the tile in our niches. I can't wait to see the finished project.

Unusual design - great colours for the laundry!

It reminds me of the beautiful ornate stained glass windows of an old church or on a moroccan lantern. It matches the sea green vanity I ordered and is going to be gorgeous!

Could this be used in my pool?
Donna B on Jun 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely! These would be perfect for a pool.
Is this suitable for behind a gas cooktop (i.e. is it heat resistant?)
A shopper on May 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This mosaic would go perfectly behind a cooktop. The heat should not affect the quality or appearance of the tile, and it should look beautifully on your wall.
What is the length and width of each of the glass polygons?
A shopper on Oct 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The tiles are meshed back but the individual size is:
3 5/8" H x 7/8" W, there is 1/16" grout line in the mesh.

PS- It's a gorgeous tile in person!
Could I use this as flooring in a low traffic area?
Mary H on Mar 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi- I would not advise using any glass tiles for flooring. This tile is beautiful and I would recommend if for any wall application but I don't think it is strong enough to walk on.
Can I use this as a countertop?? Would it need any special/additional covering i.e. polyurethane?
Lisa C on May 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I woud not use this as a countertop unless I resin the top to evan it out surface wise as these are narrow 4" buy less than 1" wide tiles and would leave a lot of surface area to catch dirt etc. Poly will not stick to tile well, and resin would also need surface prep for remove any and all oils and even a light 400 grit rub of the tile surface for good adhesion. Look up epoxy counter tops on Utube for how to. Its simple really;)
Where can I find 1/4" tile pencil border to line this?
A shopper on Jan 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can make it easily enough with resin. We used a rubber border that had a U shape and poured resin into just the base, spraying metallic blue spray paint into the mix as we mixed and some purple and silver gold etc after we poured. Made a curved shaped pencil mold that looks like the tile so much no one knows its resin. Watch Utube 'epoxy counter tops' for the how to. Ours is for a mosaic still in progress
Can this be used as an entire shower wall?
A shopper on Mar 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it could just be sure to seal it both prior and after grouting. I just installed it in my shower - looks incredible, tons of compliments!

A shopper on Feb 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 12" x 10"
If I use this tile to make an accent wall, can I hang a mirror on the tile without hurting the tile?

Installation
SUBSTRATE

Tile must be installed over a suitable substrate to insure a proper installation. Glass tile should be installed over a clean, sound, and flat surface, free of contaminates including curing compounds. Substrate should be free of cracks. If used in a wet area you must waterproof. See manufacturer’s recommendation on a membrane for crack and water protection that is compatible with the setting material you are using. Glass is reflective therefore any inconsistencies in the substrate will result in a poor installation. For pools and fountains we recommend installing a mortar bed according to TCA P601-98. EXPANSION AND CONTROL JOINTS PER TCA EJ171-05 Expansion joints should be installed at all “changes in plane” in the tile work and where tile abuts restraining surfaces, therefore silicone caulking sealant must be installed in all corner joints in place of grout.

INSTALLATION
  • To avoid affecting the color of glass tile, White modified thin-set such as Bostik Glass Mate is highly is recommended for all installations.
  • Apply as much adhesive as can be covered within 10-15 minutes.
  • Grout joint should be a minimum of 1/16” and not butt set.
  • The trowel size you can use is a 9" Trowel - 1/16" square notch.
GROUTING
  • You would need to use Non-Sanded Grout.
  • Grout joints should be packed full and free of voids and pits.
  • Clean excess grout as the work progresses before it has hardens completely.
  • Acids should never be used for cleaning grout haze.
  • Use a damp sponge for the final cleaning and to smooth out the grout joints.
  • Highly recommended to purchase the Glass Installation/Maintenance Kit - http://www.TileBar.com/collection/tiling-supplies/glass-tile-maintenance-package.html
CUTTING

The recommended cutting method is to use a wet saw with a diamond blade that is specifically for cutting glass. Edges can be sanded smooth after cutting.
